THE BIO
Music in the 1980's was not just about songs from Madonna and Duran Duran. In the secluded world of music emerged some of the greatest independent artists and underground tunes that inspired the Gen Xers. Where dressing in all black was not just a statement, but a way of life. Only one band has attempted to capture this "alternative" movement from the 80's.
The 80’s Underground is a Southern California band consisting of seasoned musicians with a love for alternative 80's music. Playing songs from The Smiths, The Cure, The Jam, The Ocean Blue, The Fixx, Oingo Boingo, INXS, R.E.M. and many more. The 80’s Underground takes their audience away from the mainstream and into an alternative world of Rock. Experience and relive what "alternative" meant in the 80's!
THE BAND
MARKY C. - LEAD VOCALS
Mark has a theater performance degree from UCSD and has been singing professionally since 1992 doing rock shows, show tunes and choir directing. In 2005 Mark joined 80s band The Reaganomics and brought that band to amazing success. Nominated 3 years in a row for Best Cover Band by the San Diego Music Awards, he traveled the U.S. for weddings and corporate events. In 2008, Mark formed Freeze Frame and within weeks began performing again at well known clubs throughout San Diego and East County. After an eight year hiatus, Marky C is resurrected with The 80s Underground, ready to bring to life new (old) 80s songs from his high school days that he doesn't want anyone to forget!
TODD 'THE MOD' MIRAMON - GUITAR, BACKING VOCALS
Todd has played in several cover and original bands in San Diego and Colorado for over 35 years. He has played for such 80s bands as: 80's & Gentlemen and award winning The Reaganomics. In addition, Todd has written music for original projects such as Two By Chance and My Next Dilemma. Todd's guitar playing is heavily influenced by Johnny Marr of The Smiths and Glen Tilbrook of Squeeze.
THE AARONATOR - KEYBOARDS, SEQUENCING
With over 30 years of playing in bands around the San Diego area, Aaron brings his zest for electronic music to the stage providing the eclectic sounds that give the songs that classic 80s vibe.
HANS 'ON BASS' BECKER - BASS GUITAR
Hans studied music and education at SDSU and has been gigging in San Diego pop and rock bands for nearly 20 years. He is also a founding member of another local 80's band BETAMAXX!!
TODD 'T2' TOLIS - DRUMS
A seasoned veteran of the New Orleans music scene, Todd 2 (or T2 as we call him), relocated to San Diego bringing his solid, fun-key signature sound! With over 32 years of stage and tour dates, T2 is the guy who "drives the bus and fuels the engine room!' His enthusiasm and professionalism sets him apart as one of the best!
